There’s plenty of great music heading to the stores this summer, and we’re going to keep you “In The Buzz” on a few of these great new releases!

Honeybrowne hit stores in June with their fourth studio album “Mile By Mile”, Produced by one of Austin’s best, Mark Addison, the entire CD offers up a great “Melloncamp-like” sound, that is grooving’ and will be a favorite of everyone from Alternative Rock/Country to Americana.  Two stand-out tracks from the album are “Yesterday’s News” which is upbeat and fun, definitely a single waiting to happen, along with the title track “Mile by Mile” which is already receiving a lot of North Texas airplay.

What’s old is new again with “New Dog, Old Tricks” as Susan Gibson successfully reestablishes herself as an acclaimed songwriter (Wide Open Spaces) by bringing back ten original songs originally recorded with her old band, The Groobees, and tosses in five new co-writes for good measure.  If you are looking for some really great tracks, then this album is a must have for your collection!

Yet another group on their fourth studio recording comes out of Austin with a strong release filled with thoughtful lyrics, rhythm, and heck of a lot of soul.  Micky and The Motorcars “Naïve” hit stores July 29th, and brings the same great sound that fans are expecting.  With a strong country rock sound, “Grow Old” is already getting airplay throughout North Texas radio stations and is sure to make a strong rise on the Texas Country Charts.  Look for Micky and the Motorcars to hit Rockin Rodeo in Denton on August 14th.

Down but not out, fans of Jason Boland and the Stragglers were stunned early in July when word got out that Boland had suffered a ruptured vocal cord.  Just a month and a half before the much anticipated release of “Comal County Blue” on August 22nd, the band was forced to cancel shows, and it was unknown when Boland would be able to return to the stage.

In a statement released on his website, Boland expressed his deepest gratitude from fans and well wishers, and made it clear that he “will return, as always, with vigor and vengeance.”  Boland was expected to pay a visit to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he will learn more about treatment for a “blood-filled polyp” on his right vocal cord.

380 Buzz has scheduled an interview with Boland on this and his new album Comal County Blue, as soon as doctors give him the go ahead.  Look for this issue to appear in the September issue of “The Buzz”.
